The Rock 'N Roll Train Crashes into D.C.
Bottom line, a show really good, really. Heart played more songs from the new album than I thought they would. The rotation seemed to go: new song, two classics, new song, two classics, rinse and repeat.
Energized the crowd were songs like "Back In Black", "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (perfect for D.C. as noted by Brian Johnson during the show) and "Thunderstruck". Knowing a band with as many hits as Heart, the only disappointment came with not being able to pack all your favorites into a three-hour gig. Sadly missing were songs like "Bad Boy Boogie", "Hard as a Rock" and "Get It Hot".
Made it feel like an event and not just another rock show, the stage props, cheesy animations, pyro, gratuitous use of confetti and fun lighting effects. A diversity of fans there was, and everyone knew most of the songs by heart so it wasn't long before the night was a rockin' sing-a-long. I loved that parents were bringing their young kids to see a classic band.
9 years ago during the Stiff Upper Lip tour, last time I saw Heart. I sure hope doesn't take that long again.
